Insert PDF and other documents into blog with Scibd.com

hello. Another Blogging tip from PowerAuthor TJ Baldwin.

I've been looking for a clean nice way to post/web publish my fiction in PDF book form. I write novels and comic books. I self publish these and sell them at bookstores and tradeshows, comic/arts festivals. To do this, I build my book in Microsoft Word or Open Office. Then I "print" a version with CutePDF. I then Upload the PDF to a digital on-demand printer like Lulu or Amazon's CreateSpace. So I have my books all ready to go in meticulously formated and designed PDFs.

But

how do I embed them in a blog or website?

Scribd.com that's how.

So sign up or use your facebook acount and start uploading your PDFs. then in the share area choose embed and pick a format. I have been using HTML5 but it looks the same with the Flash option. I'm not sure if Flash is supported by all devices, and you certainly want it to be readable on portables. Another note:use the copy button instead of select all/paste with the url. For some reason you have to use the "Copy" button.

Now paste that in a blog post. I use Blogger, in Post Mode, I switch from COMPOSE to HTML and that's it. Ads on the side and looks killer. Note - I broke up this Book into chapters and Printed single chapter PDFs.

take a look
